“A living bridge between cultures”

Joe De Gregorio is a Jazz performing artist, pianist, vocalist, composer and producer. 

For the past fifteen years he has been active Internationally, distinguishing himself on the Jazz scene of three different continents: Europe, North Africa (Morocco) and North America (New York). 

Winner of The Monte Carlo International competition for Jazz soloists (2015),
he was also awarded with three international scholarships at renowned institutions such as: 

  •  The Academy Of Music and Drama (Gothenburg, Sweden)
  •  The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (New York, USA)
  •  The Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA).

He has performed at the Parco della Musica in Rome (2019), Jamboree Jazz Club (Barcelona), Sunside Jazz Club (Paris), Bravo Jazz Club (Brussels), Princesse Grace Theater (Montecarlo), at the Villa des Arts in Rabat and Casablanca (Morocco), Rockwood Music Hall (New York), Bonafide Jazz club owned by Richard Bona, (New York) and Saint Peter’s Jazz Vespers (New York); he is the founder of 3 international collectives: Paris Gospel Jam (Paris, 2012), The Gospel Jazz Syndicate (New York, 2016) Brotherhood Afromed Jazz Collective (Casablanca, 2020).

Bandleader of various ensembles, including his own trio, he has recorded 6 self-produced discs of original music.

As an invested and passionate Jazz educator, Joe has crafted his own revolutionary method-online course: “The Analysis, Practice & Reinvention of a Jazz motif”, bridging the teaching legacy of Jazz piano master Barry Harris and Classical Composer Arnold Schoenberg. Né à Rome, Joe G. de Gregorio est 

  • Actif depuis plus quinze ans sur la scène jazz européenne et internationale en tant que sideman et leader de divers ensembles, dont son propre Trio. A joué dans plusieurs festivals et clubs de jazz, principalement en France, en Suède, en Italie, à Monte Carlo au Maroc et aux États-Unis (New York).
  • A collaboré avec de nombreux artistes européens, américains et africains, tels que Francesco Puglisi, Mauro et Carlo Battisti, Tony Arco, Dré Pallemaerts, Yoni Zelnik, David Brown, Majid Bekkas.
  • A enregistré deux disques sous son propre nom, contenant ses compositions ainsi que des arrangements originaux de standards de jazz et de gospel et d’improvisations gratuites: Pictures of Life, (Trio) In His Presence, (Piano Solo).

Prix et distinctions :

  • Premier prix à la Luca Flores Jazz piano competition (Florence, Italie 2009) et à la Montecarlo International Competition for Jazz soloists (Monaco 2015).
  • Récompensé par trois bourses internationales à l’Academy of Music and Drama (Gothenburg, Suède 2008), à la New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (New York, États-Unis 2016) et au Berklee College of Music (Boston, États-Unis 2016).
  • Sélectionné par Maître Reggie Workman pour le Coltrane ensemble de la New School of NYC.
  • Actif sur la scène de jazz new-yorkaise : à partir de mai 2016, il dirige son propre ensemble, le NYC Gospel Jazz Syndicate, qui est hébergé pendant six mois à Manhattan au Bonafide Club, propriété du célèbre bassiste camerounais Richard Bona.
